I went on a quite interesting tour of a former naval base / island in the middle of sudney harbour normally of limits to the public. then just spent the rest of the afternoon wandering round sydney, found loads of flying foxes (or huge bats as everyone else would call them hanging) upside down in the botanical gardens.
monday i went for a walk (cowan to brooklyn), it was a pretty hot day (hottest day of the year so far as i since found out) not sure if it was the hottest october day since 77 or that was just crap that people were talking. I took 1.5 litres of water… not enought! it was like walking in a fan oven, you know when your stomach sweats.. yeah twas hot. 35c apparently. i managed – just, but not really enjoyable tho, lessons learned about remembering water tablets so i could fill my bottle from that scanky looking resovoir without worrying – i did take a sip and it didn’t taste nice so i took some incase i NEEDED it, turned out didn’t, i was just very thirsty when i got to the end. to compound all of this, there was a snake i didn’t enjoy that bit. it was in the leaves about a metre away if that, i saw it dissappearing over the rocks down the hill… not nice! cos i didn’t see it till it was moving away, could have so nearly stepped on it which would have been decidedly not good.
